I was privileged to be a part of the 2015-16 Vital Voices Fellowship. Throughout this highly competitive, one year accelerator program for women owners of small and medium sized businesses, I thought I was prepared for my graduation ceremony, but I was wrong. The ceremony was just a formality to signify our progress, but one never graduates from the experience of gaining sisters from all over the world.
I knew my business needed to be broader and better equipped with growth plans for the future, but the Vital Voices fellowship program provided me with leadership development, which helped me immensely, even with how I now relate with people on a personal level. The program helped me plan for growth, which helped shape my vision for a 10 year business growth plan. It helped me become competitive because it provided me with the necessary strategic growth plans and feedback. Lastly, the program taught me executive financial management, which made my accountant ask if I had a crash M.Sc in Executive accounting, lol. I can’t forget about the in-person training in Cape town, South Africa. It was remarkable.
This program has no doubt provided me with practical skills beyond my imagination. It has truly enabled me to realize my vision beyond not just my community, but globally.
My assigned executive coach, Susan .R. Meyer, was outstanding. Not only did she help me clear up my human resources doubts and efficiency, she also encouraged me to reach my full potential despite my fears.
I also networked with a fellow from Lebanon, Madiha Raslan. What a relief to find someone from another region going through the same business challenges that you are and collaborating together for the future.
Other global partners in this fellowship are Exxon Mobile, Protea Hotels and of course the highly acclaimed, Harvard Business Publishing. Thank you for giving me grown up siblings from all over the world and a fantastic MBA in Entrepreneurship…..Thank you for finding me worthy.
